Washoe Lake 2008

Washoe Lake in May 2008. One of my favorite pictures due to the shade to tree visual.

Washoe Lake Giants

This is a picture that I took at Washoe Lake while bird watching with a friend who had an environmental class. It was a very beautiful day.

Pure Gold

You get up REALLY quiet. Fix a cup of cowboy coffee, build a small fire, and just enjoy what you will try to describe to everyone else when they wake up.

Approximately 188 miles in area, in the in the northwestern part of the of Nevada. One of the largest lakes in the United States, it is one of the most beautiful places to be.

November Skies

There is something to be said for the November skies of Nevada. A sense of Nostalgia comes over you as you gaze in admiration of our Nevada skies. This was taken on Interstate 80 West to Reno from Fernley Nevada. November 2007.

The branches of the old cottonwood reach up as if to tease the lightning storm. You wonder how long the game has gone on between them.

We started the blog with pics of the wild horses. They are truly one of great animals that are associated with our state. Other animals that we have are a little more rare and definitely more of a challenge to photograph.
this Blue Heron took a 1.5 hours of kayaking through spiderwebs in the predawn. The payoff was spectacular as I found a usually shy and easily spooked bird reluctant to leave the nest it was guarding.

MA & New Baby

This is a tough way to start life being born in the Northern Nevada winter, as a baby wild horse stays close to its mother. We fist saw this female who we named MA (Mama Arrowhead) about 1 month ago and this 2nd trip out to see the herd we saw her baby, we tracked the markings to the first photos to discover its really her.

Wild Horse Christmas

One of the few wild horses that we found in the desert mountains in the SE area of Reno. This horse is from the 2nd herd of the day.
